The section of Freret Street between Napoleon and Jefferson avenues had long been an important commercial strip for Uptown, even though it had collapsed badly by the time Hurricane Katrina struck. The identity of Freret Street as a foodie destination was very much on the minds of business leaders when planning the new store, said Marketing Director Tim Acosta.
